(This is an excerpt from a teaching I'm working on...)
Derek Prince once said "The World's most influential person is the one who knows how to get his prayers answered"
Three of my favorite statements in scripture that talk about how to be successful in prayer are these:
1) Matt 21:22 Jesus said, “And all things you ask in prayer, BELIEVING, you will receive.”
2) John 15:7 Jesus said again, “IF you abide in Me, and MY WORDS ABIDE IN YOU, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”
3) 1 John 5:14-15 “This is the confidence which we have before Him,
that, IF WE ASK anything ACCORDING TO HIS WILL, He hears us. 15 And if
we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the
requests which we have asked from Him.”
From these scriptures
we can summarize that the scope of prayer is limitless and that nothing
is excluded (everything is possible). But there are three conditions
that need to be met for accomplishing positive results: (1) having
faith, (2) aligning ourselves with God's purpose and (3) embracing God's
The Lord's prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) speaks of His
Kingdom coming on earth and having His will be done here, as it is in
heaven. To be successful in prayer we must take ourselves out of the
equation and, through faith, call down His Kingdom, His will and His
purpose, according to His word, into the situation. This isn't always
the easiest thing to do but if we yield selflessly to the Father instead
of coming to Him selfishly with a laundry list of our wants and needs,
we'll fair better in getting prayers met. After all, His word says that
He already knows what we need.
Stay tuned and God bless.
